Supermarkets are in a price war, pushing down the cost of milk to win consumers. This is forcing farmers out of the market, destroying their lives and making them use dairy cows more intensively, which is bad for their welfare. However the supermarkets don't care as long as they make an extra couple of pence profit. They truly are cut throat!

Recipes I have used, and that came with my yogurt maker say you can use: Whole milk 2% milk 1% milk Fat free milk Soy Milk or Almond milk to make yogurt. I have never seen a recipe using cream for yogurt making. So I think all purpose cream would make a heavy yogurt and so would whipping cream. When I made yogurt using 2% milk it is much lighter than yogurt make with whole milk and takes longer to cure. The yogurt maker suggested 10 hours for whole milk yogurt and 12 hours for 2% yogurt. Good luck.
Set yogurt is made by allowing the yogurt mixture to sit undisturbed until it thickens and sets, while stirred yogurt is agitated during the fermentation process to create a smooth and creamy texture. Set yogurt tends to be thicker and denser, while stirred yogurt is smoother and more liquid in consistency.
