It is banned for being fairly grim, with adult themes and somewhat depressing.
Robert Cormier is somewhat depressing to read, and many of his books deal with adult themes yet are pushed towards young readers, causing several watchdog groups to ban his books. While I Am the Cheese is nowhere near as bad as "Fade", it is often attacked along with other less offensive material, such as "The Chocolate War."

Yes, very legal. It depends what type of cheese. if it is the great Chinese leaping cheese which is banned from all 50 states of America, then yes.this cheese is more deadly than any other cheese. Except blue ofcourse. the great Chinese leaping cheese attacks the throats and gullets of the unwilling cheesified victim and overdoses of the aforementioned cheese can result in the melting of the occipital lobe or can even be leathal. -which Im sure you'll all agree is a fate worse than death. So anyway.... stay away from the great Chinese leaping cheese.
This is a matter of personal opinion. However, some common choices would be Limburger (which has a smell sometimes described as "stinky feet", though I personally think that's overly generous and that it actually smells more like a well-used outhouse) and/or any of the "blue" varieties of cheese, which are blue because of a kind of mold that is growing in them.
