There are many pennies that average from a few hundred to a few thousand.

There is a unique error wheat penny, a 1943 coin minted at Denver, that recently (2011) sold for $1.75 million. This coin was struck on a bronze blank left over from 1942, while all 1943 cents were supposed to be made of steel to save copper for use in ammunition.

The other 2 mints (Philadelphia and San Francisco) also had similar errors but made a total of somewhere between 10 and 20 such coins, so they're not worth as much as the Denver error.

MoreActually, a penny ISN'T just a cent. There are some very old and very rare US Large Cents that sell for several hundred thousand dollars, but nothing has broken the million-dollar level yet.

Rumors of a $1M bill are just that, stories. There are novelty "million dollar" notes that can be bought in toy and hobby shops but they're as real as, well, a $3 bill.

Any transaction involving amounts such as a million dollars would be done electronically so there's no need for such a huge bill. In fact, the government has refused to issue any bills higher than just $100 despite calls for a new $200 and/or $500 denomination to counter the effects of inflation. They're afraid that criminals might use them to move large sums "under the table".
