Percy gets trapped by one of the furies sent by Hades. She is close to killing him when Mr. Brunner ( Chiron ) throws him the sword Anaklumos in the shape of a ink pen. When Percy uncaps it, it transforms into a sword and with it he destroys the fury.

Percy notices that Grover and Mr. Brunner never let him out of their sight and are constantly vigilant when he's around. They are always on edge and seem to be watching over him protectively, leading Percy to suspect that they think he is in danger.

Jason finds out that Percy is at the Roman Camp because they both have been switched by Hera to unite the two camps. Percy is at the Roman Camp to fulfill a greater prophecy and bring together the Greek and Roman demigods to face a common enemy.
