Unfortunately, no. The Music Box will break if you try to do anything other than keep it in your toolbox. However, keeping the Music Box in your toolbox while in the Buried Relic will "attract" Mew and cause it to randomly appear on any floor from 36-98.
Note: If Mew is on the floor, it will be there as soon as you appear from the previous floor. It will not appear after you have already appeared and walked around the floor for a while.
Additionally, Mew may appear more than once during your visit to Buried Relic. For example, if you find Mew on floor 37 but defeat it without it joining you, there is still a chance that you could find Mew on floor 38, 39, 40, etc.

To get Mew, go to the Buried Relic, BRING A FRIEND BOW,defeat the three Regis. (Once defeaten, each Regi gives an elemental piece, collect it.) After defeating Regice on floor 35, the pieces will fuse into a Music Box. Do not play it, keep it with you. After that, take the Warp Panel, now from Floor 36-99, you have a slim chance of finding Mew. (It took me two tries to make it join my Team.) After recruiting Mew, you teleport out of the dungeon. And Voilla! you have Mew. You must also have the Friend Area Final Island. remember have a space on your team for mew. Mew can transform into another pokemon, so keep an eye on whats happening.

After you get it explore the whole buried relic with the music box in the tool box. (make sure you don't lose the music box because then you can never get mew) When the word mew used transform appear on your screen search the floor till you find him and then battle him and see if he joins your team. (mew is very rare and the chances of seeing him are very low so don't be upset if you don't find him the first time) Careful ,mew can appear as any pokemon.

u do need to have the music box. NEVER play it! on some random floor mew will appear. something will pop up at the bottem saying 'mew used transform' so mew could be any pokemon. he might not join if u see him. its just luck. so yes u do have to see him, but he might not be in mew form. Good luck!
