John Belushi was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 24, 1949. He was the son of his Albanian immigrant parents Agnes and Adam Belushi, who owned a restautant. His family moved to Wheaton Illinois when John was six-years-old, where he grew up. He attended high school at Wheaton Central High. After he graduated in 1967, he began to perform in brief roles at such events as summer stock in rural Indiana. He appeared in such productions as: "Anne of a Thousand Days" as Cardinal Wolsey and in "Ten Little Indians" where he played a comid detective. He enrolled in the University of Wisconsin for a brief time until he dropped out due to discipline problems. He went on to DuPage College for the following two years. In 1971 John joined Second City and his acting career took off from there. The signature films for which he is known include: "Animal House, "1941" and "The Blues Brothers." He was found dead on March 5, 1982 at the Charteau Marmnt hotel in Los Angeles at age 33. The cause of death was listed as lethal cocaine and heroin injection that led to an overdose. He is survived by his younger brother Jim Belushi who is also a well known actor, comedian and musician just like his older brother John was during his life time.
