That is a subject of much debate among historians. It is generally conceded today, that he did not "steal from the rich and give to the poor", he stole from everyone and kept ever penny of it. But he is seem by some as a force against the evils of the government of the time, and by other researchers he is seen as a plain old garden-variety thug. Take your pick.

∙ 13y agoRobin Hood is a fictional person whose stories date from the 1200's. The story of Robin Hood began as an oral poem that bards told as they travelled from place to place. As time went on the story grew and changed, characters were added and taken out, and the events changed with the times. Robin Hood will never die and never has in the stories about him.
