Yes because he thought getting a family of his own would get him stronger whenever they get hurt like Goku but he finds out it never worked and since he started getting fond of the earth and settling in and getting weaker,then he noticed the power levels of the two majin people in the tournament,he knew he would be stronger than Goku.

Can vegeta beat broly?
Extremely debatable. Superman has many different incarnations ranging from a superman who cannot fly, to superman prime who has godlike powers. If you look at dbz featwize, then around 1/2 the superman incarnations will beat vegeta. If you powerscale then pretty much all superman incarnations lose to vegeta. There are so many inconsistencies between DC, and especially DBZ characters that makes the debate impossible to reach a real answer.

He's 100% himself. He states in the manga that Babidi has no control and Vegeta only did it for power. The reason he killed the spectators was to let Goku know he was willing to do whatever it takes to get the fight, just like when Goku aimed a blast at Supreme Kai. Vegeta has no influence whatsoever and it's even pointed out by Babidi telling Vegeta to do things and Vegeta flat out refusing, sticking only to coaxing Goku into battle.
