yes peeta does get a new leg. his old one was too infected so they had to cut it off.katniss does not find this out untill they are on tv at the interview after the games.

Well for starters is when Effie pulls out both Katniss and Peeta's name out of the bowl, then when they both went to the arena and teamed up, and finally when they both get out alive and have feeling for each other that Is fake at first but in mockingjay it ends up being real

Peeta said in the interview that he loved Katniss. She takes this by surprise and starts to wonder if this is true. Later in the Games Peeta acts like his love. He later asks her if she really loves him, and she says 'Yes'. But later after the Games she's taken by surprise, and Peeta tells her that the 'love game' was fake only got the cameras which leavs Katniss is despair
When Peeta and Katniss are lifted from the arena when they won, Peeta's leg was badly injured by the mutts. He lives, although his leg was amputated but he recieves a fake.
Their "love" was in a lot of ways a game, but for Peeta, it wasn't a game-it was real.
