BEWARE OF SPOILERS: Tally makes a remark that makes David leave while Tally stays with Zane. After the Diego war Tally goes to the Ruins and finds David. IT really was as if they didn't have that little "fight". At the end of Extras it's not clearly written that they were back together but has indications that they were.

Maddy (David's mom) has come up with a cure for the lesions that make pretties happy and compliant, but she wont give the cure to Shay without her consent. Tally gives her own consent to take the cure and confesses to giving away the smoke. She and shay then go to the city where tally gives herself up to be pretty.

Tally escapes the Specials with David and they travel to the city together to find and rescue their friends and loved ones who were captured. Later, Tally gives herself up to the city so that she can be an experiment for the Smoke and try the pills that will get rid of the "not so pretty secret". And that is where Uglies ends, and Pretties begins.

well, its really complicated, but the short version: its about a city in the future where people get a operation when they're 16 that make them really beautiful. these are the pretties, and the uglies are people who haven't gotten the operation yet. in the story there's a girl named Tally Youngblood (she's the main character) and she mets Shane, and they become best friends. but Shane runs away because she doesn't want to get the operation. then the 'specials' come and tell Tally that she can't get the operation until she tells them where Shane is. so she go to find Shane. i won't tell you any more, and i know that that wasn't really short, but you have you know that much.
