How can you catch latios and latias in emerald?

There are only 2 ways to catch Latias in the game.

The first is catching her as a roaming Pokémon, and in order to do that, you must first beat the Elite Four. After the credits have rolled and you resume the game in your house in Littleroot Town, your mother will be seen watching a broadcast about a Pokémon roaming the Hoenn region. After the broadcast is over, she will ask you what color Pokémon they said was roaming. To catch Latias, you must answer red. After that, you will be able to find Latias anywhere in grass or on the water. The easiest way to encounter her is by moving a Pokémon to the front of your party with a Level no higher than 40, and then using Repels while moving through tall grass in an area where wild Pokémon are never higher than 40; with luck, Latias will appear. This method takes luck, and quite a bit of trial and error, but it typically works better than the alternative of encountering the Eon Pokémon by pure luck.

Like all roaming Pokémon, Latias will flee from battle at the first chance she gets, so it's a good idea to save your Master Ball for this encounter. Alternatively, after you encounter her the first time, you can track her with the PokéNav, to determine where she is. She still moves around a lot, though, so you'll still need luck to catch her.

The other way to catch Latias is by using the Eon Ticket, a special Item that can be obtained by scanning an Eon Ticket card through an E-Reader device, though both are hard to come by nowadays, or else by going to an event. Anyway, to use this method, you first have to make sure to choose blue for the question mentioned previously, then talk to the man in charge of the ferry in Lilycove. He will react to the Eon Ticket, and from then on you can access the hidden location, Southern Island. Go there, and you will find very little of significance, but within the island's depths, there is a single stone pedestal. Examine it, and Latias will approach you and attack. There are two things to be wary of with her in this encounter: she is at Level 50, and she holds the Soul Dew item, which makes her attacks 50% more powerful.

In case it's not clear, choosing blue makes Latios appear in place of Latias, also at Level 40, and if Latias is selected as the roaming Pokémon, Latios will appear at the Southern Island, also at Level 50 and holding the Soul Dew.

When you beat the elite 4 and after the credits roll go downstairs and theres a programme on tv saying a strange Pokemon has been spotted. When your mom asks you what color the Pokemon was say red. Latias will only appear on connected routes and only in grass. If you go in a structure latias will change routes. After your first battle latias will be on your pokenav map. Go in and out of a structure and when latias is on your route find it and use mean look or block. Then get it down to red health, put it to sleep and use ultra balls and you should catch it.

Once you have beaten the elite four, you will watch a TV report stating that a colored Pokemon has been spotted. Your (fictional) mother will ask what colour it was. Was it:

Blue: Latios

Red: Latias

note that you can only catch only one of them in the game, so in other word you have to trade latias(if you choosed latios) and otherwise with somebody else....

Now here how its done. Make sure you have a wobufet LV.35-41 to use its shadow tag to prevent latios/latias from fleeing. Have a lot of ultraball or timer ball. They can be anywhere in the grass or on the water(if you use surf).

The things is, the latios/latios would change its location everytime you change your location either you're walking into new route/entering a building or a cave. You can check where latios/latias location in the pokedex IF... you have encountered any of them once. Rumor said that they'll runaway if you run or riding a bike, but i dunno if that's true or not. But for precaution, just walk around (don't run!) if you want to find them cause I get to met them while I was walking (So it might be true...)

IF YOU HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED LATIOS/LATIAS YET...

Here's a trick:

1. Go to the Seaside Cycling Road.

2. Walk around the grass southwest of the Seaside Cycling Road.

3. If you don't encounter Latios or Latias within 3 times, go back to the Seaside

Cycling Road and go out and back to the grass.

4. Keep doing this until you encounter Latios or Latias.

***I encountered Latios within 5 minutes doing this. lol. Then I caught her with a masterball. ((=

It's much esier once you have encountered latios/latias cuz you're able to detect their location.

Here are the tricks if you have ever encountered them once but miss it.

Choose an area where you want to catch them. Walk into that area and check the location of the Latios/Latias using your pokedex. If the Pokemon is not in the location you're standing, exit the area (just go to the area next to the area you're in) and revisit the area again. Repeat until Latios/Latias arive at the same location as you are. Then you can start search for them (remember not to change you're location once you and latios/latias are in the same location!!!) You can either use a Pokemon that have sweet scent to attract them without walking (It's faster and esier this way).

AS EASY AS afetr you beaten the Elite 4, then your mom will ask you and you choose a color, Blue if Latios and Red if Latias. Then find them in tall grassy areas. I used only one Ultra Ball and i got them. So you don't need to use your master ball. I already caught all the Regis and Groudon, Rayquaza and Kyogre.
First of all you need a GameShark. Put on the cheat that gives you all the Pokemon in the Pokedex. Search for Latios in the Pokedex and look at the area. Even if you have never seen it before, the Pokedex tells you where it is. Then walk to it which will take a while, but it is easier than having to find Latios on your own.

After you beat the elite four go to the t.v. it will say a colored pokrmon has been spooted and your mother will ask you what color it was red= Latias blue=Latios, whatever color that you chose is the one you will be able to get, then later you might be able to get the second one.

At the end of the Pokemon league once you come home you get to chose a color that color corresponds with the Pokemon you want. Then within the region one of the two will appear. You have to be sure to have a masterball because they flee easily.
