Yes, Bram Stoker's Count Dracula was a vampire.

Actually, The real life Dracula was not a vampire. He was Vlad III, a member of the aristocratic family of Walachia, in Romania. It was a Romanian state bordered by Moldavia and Transylvania. His father, Vlad II, acquired the name Dracul, which means dragon or devil. Dracula means son of Dracul. To make a long story short, Dracula became known as Vlad the Impaler because of his preference for impaling his victims on stakes. The most preferred method was through the anus or vagina. Sometimes he would opt for the heart or navel. His victims were firstly prisoners of war and then he moved on to people who just plain irritated him, or for political reasons or mass executions. In the city of Brasov, he ordered the impalement of thousands of Saxons. He watched them die a slow painful death while dining on his supper just a few feet away. This is the man that Bram Stoker is said to have based his character of Count Dracula on. Vlad III endured a 14 year exile including four years in an Hungarian Jail after being dethroned in 1462. The man was a sadist who lost his head in the end when he was killed near Budapest in January, 1477 in a battle with the Turks. His head was taken back to Constantinople . In his short six year reign, it is said that he may have been responsible for up 100,000 deaths. In this case, truth is scarier than fiction.
