Catch a slowpoke at slowpoke well if you raise him up to level 37 he will evol Slowbro- however, BEFORE he reaches level 37 if you want a slowking you will have to trade a slowpoke with a king's rock this does not work on slowbro, I fell for this once too- If you want a strong slowpoke go to the bottom of slowpoke well (You need Strength for this) and surf left there you will see a Nerd and he shall give you a king's rock. If you have given your slowpoke lots of cand, vitamins, precious TMs the best thing is to trade it with a kings rock to a friend's DS and back again. If you have lots of badges and you want a quick leveler trade your slowpoke for someone else's slowpoke holding King's Rock. I hope it helps,
