How do you get a buddy in Pokemon GO?

Great question. Here's how:

Tap your avatar (player picture) on the bottom left of the main screen.

• Tap the menu on the bottom right.
• Tap Buddy.
• It will give you the screen where you can choose your buddy Pokémon.

Note: Your buddy Pokemon won't show as walking with you. It will only show as an icon next to your avatar... *unless* you choose Pikachu. Pikachu will really walk with you.

The farther you walk, the more candy you can then earn for your buddy Pokemon. Depending on what Pokemon it is, you will earn one candy for every 1 to 5 kilometers.
