I don't know if there's a specific item called a "map," but I usually just use my pokegear's map.
well i got it from an old whin bag man. when your first entering cherrygrove city you talk to a old man near a tree. he will give you the most boring tour ever in soul silver. then when you get to his house he will give you the town map! :D when you head up to go to battle other trainers he will go up and giv u the running boots!

∙ 13y agoOh, let me remember... You go to the Radio Tower in the Kanto Region (Lavender Town) and talk to the old guy and he'll get your pokegear upgraded. Turn it to the pokeflute channel (at the top of the pokegear radio thing) when you're near Snorlax and talk to him. He will wake up, and you can battle him. Catch him. Hope this helped a little bit!

∙ 12y agoyou can use rare candies, or put the Pokemon you want to train at the front of your party, then as soon as a battle begins, switch it out and then do the battle. the Pokemon that you wanna train still gets exp.
you can also give it an exp. share, as this way you do not even have to have the Pokemon you want to train at the front of your party, as it gets a share of the exp. regardless.
