save in front of it. then try, try, and try again. i recommend soft resetting as soon as you see its not a shiny to avoid turning it off completely. and good luck, it can take a few minutes, or a few months. chances are you never see it. if you are talking about one of the roaming pokemon, it's preset at the begining of the game so you'll have to play the game through each time just to see if it's a shiny
