ask mr. briney's to bring you to slateport then go to the trick house then take the path right and follow it until you reach mauville beat the gym and then you can use rock smash outside battle (i think) and go into the house below the bike shop then talk to the man he will give you rock smash teach it to a pokemon i recommend that you ask for a bike its free then walk or bike to verdanturf (left) go through the tunnel and smash a rock(s) FYI this is for sapphire

∙ 10y agoYou will need HM06 Rock Smash, which you can obtain from the man in the house to the right of the Poké Mart in Mauville City. To use it you need to beat the Mauville City Gym, then you can teach it to a Pokémon like Zigzagoon. Once you smash the rocks, a man will give you HM04 Strength.

HM04 - Strength can be obtained shortly after you are able to use the HM06 - Rock Smash. Make your way into Rusturf Tunnel (just off Verdanturf Town or Rustboro City) where a single man is trying to finish the tunnel project. Smash one of the rocks that is blocking his way and he will reward you with the HM04. He says he was using Strength to remove the boulders but Rock Smash is much more effective. Note that the tunnel joins both Rustboro City and Verdanturf Town, so it can be accesed from both places.
