First, you have to go on a stroll. When you have a Pokemon in the Pokewalker, then in the start menu select "Connect to Pokewalker" Then it will say go for a stroll, return from a stroll and receive gifts.

Ok from personal experience, i was like ohmigod i can't reset!!! But it is acually quite easy. 1. From the main menu of Pokemon Heart gold/ Soul Silver, go to connect to pokewalker. 2. From there, let the game talk to you and then you should see the option "Save, then go for a stroll." 3. When you see this Hold down Down+X+L. 4. It would then say caution, and stuff like that. And if you have a Pokemon on it, it will return to you. 5. If you say yes to both of those questions, it will ask to connect to your pokewalker. 6. On the pokewalker, click connect and there you have it! 7. Sometimes its hard to conect the DS and pokewalker, but keep trying!

To return your pokemon go to the start menu of your HeartGold or SoulSilver game,Connect to Pokewalker and then press "Return From Stroll, turn on your pokewalker and go to the middle icon and when your DS says "connecting to Pokewalker" press the middle button and place the Pokewalker behind your DS and wait until your DS receives your pokemon from the Pokewalker.
