As of my last update in October 2023, there are no known living Prisoners of War (POWs) or Missing in Action (MIA) personnel from conflicts like the Vietnam War, as the last recognized POWs returned home in the 1970s. However, there may still be ongoing efforts to identify remains and account for individuals listed as MIA from various conflicts, but these cases involve deceased individuals rather than living POWs. For the most current statistics, it's best to consult official sources like the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).

Anytime a soldier disappears during war, he or she is classified as MIA or "Missing in Action". Many veterans believe there are still MIAs who might be alive from the Vietnam War. Many other MIAs were not accounted for after the Korean War.
