Well to start off Pokemon is originally a childrens show/ game. The very of something dieing like 4 times per episode is unsuitable. Plus, in games say if you raised one to level 63. That takes a long time so if it died you couldn't ever use it again as things cant be brought back to life.

No. He's fainted a few of times, I think, (most notably when Ash first tries to defeat Lt. Serge,) but never died, AFAIK.
