In Pokemon pearl you fight Pokemon in the battle tower but don't count as being seen in the pokedex?

that is because it might be a POKeMON that ain't in the sinno dex and u can go in there without natinal
ignore that answer I think because it is a fight that doesn't have exp it's kind of a special fight and so they just don't show up. Which is a bit of a B*gg*r really...
Well, it's because they want you to go in wi-fi and trade Pokemon to get them in the pokedex, and because here the Pokemon you could get in a trade are here they take your pokedex during battles...

No. Any battle that is a Battle Tower or Linked battle will NOT count towards your Pokedex, unfortunately.

There aren't that many entirely new Pokemon in this generation...some people are upset about this. Not counting mega evolutions (which I don't believe appear in the Pokedex as normal), the count is believed to be up to718as of this writing. As of now the total count is 718 of this writing.

If you don't count the elite four then its beating the trainer tower on seven island and completely finishing your pokedex which is impossible.. However if you can manage to get 382 Pokemon then you can still get the diploma.

In Pokemon Platinum you can obtain the PokeRadar along with the National Mode for your Pokedex. You can get the PokeRadar when you have seen all 210 Pokemon in the Standard Sinnoh Pokedex. Then, go to Sandgem Town and talk to Professor Rowan and then Professor Oak from the Johto Region will come in and upgrade you Pokedex with the National Mode, then he says he will be in Eterna City for a while. After that, Rowan will give you the PokeRadar, which can locate Pokemon hiding in grass patches. Professor Oak will then leave the Pokemon Research Lab and go to a house in Eterna City. In addition to this piece of information, in Eterna City when you visit Oak he will say that the three legendary bird Pokemon, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are roaming Sinnoh. You can locate these Pokemon using the Poketch app Marking Map, Oak will also say that at the end of Route 221, which is south of Sandgem Town, the Pal Park has now opened. It really depends on what you count as "beating the game." If you just want to beat all the gym leaders and the Elite Four, then you really only need to train a well balanced team. However, if you also want to fill out the pokedex you might need a little more time.

ANY POKEMON INSIDE THE BATTLE TOWER DON'T COUNT ON THE POKEDEX. You have to see them somewhere else. Example: Sableye is in Sapphire so you need Sapphire to transfer by Pal Park, or go to Iron Island bottom floor while you have Sapphire inserted. (Both of those you need the national pokedex.) Justan example.
How can I complete the National Dex if I don't own a GBA and GBA Pokemon game to migrate to my platinum?
Well, in Pokemon Platinum, all you have to do is see the Pokemon rather than capture it so if you're able to battle a trainer with that Pokemon, it will still count in your Pokedex. However, you can also make trades with people who do have those Pokemon or borrow a GBA game from a friend.

After beating Cynthia, go to Celestic Town. In one house, there's a book with a picture of Palkia in it. That will count toward your Pokedex.

Well if you want to know the regions they are Kanto, Johoto, Hoenn, Shinnon, Orange Islands, also Sevii Islands and the battle frontier. Others include Orre, Fiore, Almina, Duelist Region, Stadium Regions, and the Mystery Dungeon Realm. As of currently there are 491 Pokemon (with Darkrai being number 491) that is without the newest Arceus being listed in the Pokedex. There are not any specific types of Pokemon in any region with the exception of the legendary Pokemon, i guess. If you count arceus and shaymin it is 493 and they are making 2 new dark type Pokemon and one is zoroa and its evolution There's also the 153 Pokemon of the Unova region.
