In battle, it is the controller of a card that loses the lifepoints. It doesn't matter who has controlled the card the longest, it's the controller during Damage Calculation that counts.
When the card is destroyed, the effect is no longer in effect. Once a card is in the graveyard can not be used unless specifically stated on that card.
