In Japanese folklore, the Baku (spirit) is known as a dream-eater, performing much the same function in Japanese myth as the Native American dream catcher. Like the European Sandman, these are characters of myth and fairy tale and are not supposed to be confused with reality. See attached article for more information. There is myths about them but it up to you to believe. Some people believe that the tall buildings of a major city would interefere with the airflow of a tornadoes. This is not true. This myth is perpetuated by the fact that major tornadoes hitting major cities are relatively rare, simply for the fact that cities make rather small targets and the chances of any given location being hit by a major tornado are small.
