The term Dracula traces its origins to Romanian language.
Drăculea is the original 'nickname' of Vlad Ţepeş('Vlad ZZepesh', where 'ZZ' sounds exactly like in 'Pizza'), a Romanian ruler that reigned in Transilvania (Eng. Transylvania) in the years 1448, 1455-1462, 1476. Several centuries later, Bram Stoker was born, fell in love with the character and decided to dedicate him an evergreen fictional book with the principal character reshaped as Dracula. Fantasy by history. That is.
More: Vlad Ţepeş's father (nicknamed Dracul) was a respected member of The Order of the Dragon with the duty to protect the South Eastern European gate in front of invading Turks. He encouraged his son by nicknaming him 'Drăculea' (Ro. 'son of Dracul').
His language: old Romanian (as seen in the centenary national monasteries).
Yes, he was. He even led a Christian order of knights, the "Order of the Dragon". Vlad Dracula also defended Christian religion by fighting against Muslim armies.Even Count Dracula (Bram Stoker was inspired by Vlad Dracula) is a Christian. The book does not say this, but he is afraid of crucifixes. There is a Jewish vampire in the movie "Dance of the Vampires", and he is not afraid in them. That is why you can see that Dracula must be a Christian.
Dracula was originally written by Bram Stoker, an Irish writer, in 1897.

Dracula was not really invented. Bram Stoker, the author of the novel, was inspired by a real person named Vlad III (also Vlad Tepes or Vlad Draculea). Vlad Tepes (1431-1476) was a prince from Walachia. The novel "Dracula" by Bram Stoker was first published on 18th May 1897.
The name Dracula simply means "son of Dracul". Dracul was a Romanian leader, and Dracula's father. The origin of the name itself is from draco "dragon". This may be a reference to his personality or a position he held.
The most famous character who was inspired by the real life Vlad Tepes was of course Dracula. Funny enough, Vlad tepes was also known as Vlad Draculea - translated as son of the dragon, or devil. Bram storker was the man who created the FICTIONAL character Dracula. Remember, Just because the character was based on the actual man, doesn't make everything about the character true.

Count Dracula is a fictional character created by Bram Stocker in the shape of a vampire but it is allegedly inspired by the real hitorical figure. A 15th century Wallachian (present day Romania) prince called Vlad Draculea, or Vlad the Impaler. The name he was later given, "Draculea" means Devil in Romanian and was made famous by his cruelty towards thiefs, criminals and traitors who in his time were executed by having a large wooden spear driven through their bodies from the pelvic area to the back of their necks after which the bodies were left on display. However, the name Draculea was a diminutive of his father nickname of "Dracul", again meaning "the Devil". His father, also a Romanian prince got the name for having been awarded the Medal and Order of the Dragon by the Hungarian king Sigismund in recognition of his military accomplishments against the Ottoman Empire. At the time, Romanian language did not have the word "dragon" as it does now and the popular translation was "drac de mare", meaning "sea devil". From the word DRAC, he was named DRACUL, meaning The Devil and later his son, Vlad, inherited the name as DRACULEA, meaning "son of DRACUL". And no, Vlad was not a vampire, neither was he a count.
