Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari has made references to AKIRA, Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, and Detective Conan. There are also lots of references to other anime shows in Gintama (e.g Bleach, Death Note, Naruto, Gundam, Eyeshield 21, One Piece, and Bobobo-bo bo-bobo).

no it is meant to be on dragonball (so the series before dragonball z) however they changed so much of it when they made it into the movie that i dont think that you can really say that it is. its more like an adaption of dragonball dont try to compare it you'll only be disapointed.

Well, it depends on what you want to read about. We have "Shounen" which means "Boy" and is a very common genre, as well as one of the main genre (the other ones being Shoujo=Girl, Kodomo=Kids, Josei=Young woman, and Seinen=Young man). Manga like Naruto and Death Note are Shounen. Manga like Vagabond are Seinen. The difference between Shounen and Seinen is that Seinen usually is 18+, while Shounen usually is around for people around the ages of 10-18. The same difference goes for Shoujo and Josei.Remember though that this is NOT an absolute fact. There are females who likes to read Shounen and Seinen (me, for example), as well as there are some males that likes to read Shoujo and Josei.Ok, and then we have a lot, and I mean a LOT, of minor genre. Here we have romantic, drama, action, sci-fi, historical, humor, horror, fantasy, supernatural, school life, slice of life (which is just normal, everyday life), sport, mystery, and a lot more. Most of these minor genre are the ones you can find in any movie or book.
