First you need these materials
1 - Glue
2 - Replacement battery
(The battery I removed was a CR1616T 3Volt. Check your own battery and make sure you get the same type because you know it will fit and will work properly)
3 - Tiny flat head screw driver
Step 1: First use the tiny flat head to unscrew the little screw on the back. Make sure you put enough pressure down that the screw turns with it. If you just turn the tiny flat head and the screw does not turn with it, it will eat the metal away of the inside of the screw, making it impossible to take the screw out and the battery too!
Step 2: Do not pop it open, slide it open
Step 3: You sill see a metal piece over the battery, bend it open as much as can with the tiny flat head without breaking it
Step 4: Use the tiny flat head to snap the little 4 prongs under the metal piece, then the other 4 on the bottom, make sure you dont scratch the bottom up!
Step 5: Take battery out and put new one in negative (-) charged side on top
Step 6: Rebend the top metal piece back in place as best as you can
Step 7: Put a little glue on top of the metal piece and battery and let it dry
Step 8: Put cover back in
Step 9: Screw the screw back in
Step 10: Enjoy
Link it up with a FireRed or LeafGreen. On the FR/LG title screen, press B and Select. It will tell you what to do there.
The game pak has an internal battery inside, so when the battery is dry you can't have events going in your game you might not find certain Pokemon or have certain decorations for your secret base because the department has discounts on items as new limited items which you need the internal battery to work. The game is still playable, but if you want those time-based features you either have to buy a new game or replace the internal battery.
