Popeye the Sailor cartoons started to be released in 1933. The cartoons were produced from then until the present . During the late 1950's these cartoons were snapped up by various low budget TV shows for after school entertainment. One of these was ln 1957 when CKLW purchased from Associated Artists Productions the Detroit TV broadcast rights to 234 Max Fleischer and Famous Studios Popeye cartoons. These appeared on the poopdeck Paul Show.
