it is a science fiction
Some types of science fiction writing are: Apocolyptic Post-apocolyptic Hard science fiction (where the science is detailed and plausible) Soft science fiction (where the science is not detailed and less important to the story) Space opera (lives of people during space travel, i.e. Star Trek, Star Wars) Dystopian

Here are some links to help you. A science fiction story is just a story with scientific elements that are not available today. Here are some things to think about:science - without a good scientific basis, it's not a science fiction story - be sure you understand the science behind everything in your storytime - science fiction can be futuristic or historical, so long as the science in the story is not available to us nowcharacters - remember to create logical, believable characters that your readers will care aboutsetting - same with the setting, it must be believable whether it is set on an alternate Earth, on a starship, or a far planetgadgets - a lot of people think just changing guns to ray-guns or cars to flying cars makes a story into science fiction, but that's not true - the writer needs a firm understanding of science to make a good science fiction story, so do your research and learn all about whatever it is you'd like to write
Some good science fiction storys about humans from an alien's POV are Dave's Natterings and Gotta Have Aliens.
In a science fiction story, the setting is often such a part of the plot that you might even think of it as a character. What would Star Wars be without the alien planets and outer space? Or the Pern novels without the planet and the destructive Threads?
Science Fiction is first and foremost based on science. If you want ideas about extraterrestrials and other planets, you want to read as much hard science as you can - physics, biology, astronomy, whatever strikes your fancy. If science does not interest you, then perhaps you really want to write a fantasy story about different beings besides humans - that way, you can concentrate on the characters instead of on science fiction.
Try Ray Bradbury's stories. They may be a bit outdated in the sense that they are not what today's readers might think is science fiction like in today's movies. Harlan Ellison is also a wonderful science fiction short story writer. Otherwise try using your library's computer catalog using keywords like 'science fiction anthologies' or 'outer space short stories.'

Science Fiction.
No it doesn't have to have anything to do with space. Science fiction basically means that it maybe could happen with future technology, but nowadays is impossible. Although Star Wars and stuff are science fiction, you don't have to have a space theme. Hope this helps!! :) _________________ Thanks!! i was just wondering because everybody said 'ooh science fiction. space and time and planets and stuff' but also hunger games and others are also sci fi, but thanks for clearing that up! Now i have a genre for my story :D
Time isn't different. The difference between science fiction and other fiction is the use of scientific knowledge that we don't have at the present. Steam punk is science fiction set in historical eras.
Yes, science fiction is a story genre that often takes place in the future, exploring advancements in technology, society, and space travel.
Because it has an element of science in it.
science fiction
The word "fiction" means "made up". Some or all of the science in the story may be real, but the story is made up.
