to trade anything from either Diamond or Pearl you need the following.
1. To beat the Elite Four
2. To see all the Pokemon in the Pokedex (not the national one)
After you have this stick the leaf green game into the GameBoy slot in your DS. Turn your DS on and wait for the Pokemon menu to load. Once it does scroll down to "Import from Leaf Green" then pick 6 Pokemon that you want to have imported. Travel to Pal Park, which is found on route 221. Run around the grass until you catch every Pokemon.
Note that once a Pokemon enters Diamond or Pearl there is no going back to the perivous game it came from.
To migrate from any of the games Saphire, Ruby, Leaf Green, Fire Red in to Diamond or Pearl insert the GBA pak into the ds and start to play your diamond or eparl game on the menu at the beginning it will ask if you want to migrate say yes and choose six (has to be six) Pokemon from that game then go to pal park which is at the end of route 221 and catch all the pokeon in record time!!!! (try to beat Your friend's record 'cos then you can laugh at him for being rubbish)
Here are the ingame trades: In underground path that leads to vermilion city, In house on route 2, in house in cerulean city, in big building west of fuchsia city, in big building east of fuchsia city, in the lab on cinnibar island.
