In my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles I base Robin Hood on a real Robyn Hod who lived in the 14th century. My reasoning is that in one of the earliest ballads King Edward -- almost surely Edward II -- makes Robin Hood his yeoman. Edward II had a valet and porter named Robyn Hod, and I assume that Robin Hood and Robyn Hod are the same person.

Beyond Sherwood Forest was a TV show produced in 2009. It starred Robert Dunne as Robin Hood. In 2008, Jason Braly starred as Robin Hood in "Robin Hood: Prince of Sherwood". Princess of Thieves was made in 2001. There were many other TV shows based on Robin Hood during the 70"s, 80"s, and 90"s.
Robin Hood is legend and folklore. Thus, accuracy may just depend on who is articulating the information, and nothing will be based on absolute fact. The best book on the possible actuality of Robin Hood is J.C.Holt's Robin Hood. My novel The Robin Hood Chronicles gets most of its information from Holt's book, though I am more positive in my identification than he is.
