Usernames on Pottermore are generated by the site to protect younger users. The names are made up of two Harry Potter related words and a number. When registering, you are given a choice of five users names to choose from.

Some examples of the word combinations are:

  • SparksMirror
  • CastleProphecy
  • CharmHallow
  • ThrestralWizard
  • NifflerElm
  • NightQuaffle

These combinations can be used over and over again but with various numbers. The numbers are random and do not represent how many people on the site with that word combination, allow beta testers tend to have much lower numbers.
