I think it seems kind of depressing. I suppose it is a story about being content with who you are and what you have talent or ability for. However, it seems harsh (like a lot of Fairy Tales) that you don't have the chance to learn from your mistakes. It also seems somewhat bizarre that they came up with that particular combination; mouse bird and sausage. Or that the bird could carry firewood. And the thing about the papers is weird. But it is definitely a cautionary tale about being happy with what you have and who you are and not trying to do less and have more, as we are always trying to do.
