Walton does develop great affection for Frankenstein. but one of brotherly love. Frankenstein poses as a gift to Walton from god in the sense that Frankenstein helps Walton realise that his obsession with discovering the magnetic north pole, shouldn't be something to take over his life and cloud his sense of rationality. i believe that Walton develops a feeling of gratitude towards Frankenstein for giving him insight to the place where he possibly could have ended up if he let himself be a slave to his passions.
He admires how gentle and wise Frankenstein is. He admires his cultivated mind and the way his words flow with eloquence. (Frankenstein, Letter IV, p.11)

Walton is obsessed with reaching the north pole. He puts his goal over the safety of his crew and himself, only when Victor finished his story does Walton give up on his obsession knowing that obsessions only lead to damaging outcomes.
He feels forced to believe it by the undeniably accurate evidence, despite its improbability.

Technically, he is an illegal alien. You see, although he was created, he was not a natural born citizen (nor did he apply for citizenship, insofar as is known!). Therefore, Frankenstein has no known nationality. Dr. Fredrick Frankenstein was Swiss.
This is his first sighting of the creature after its creation.
the strange sight that the crew see one day in frankenstein is a monster
Walton and his crew see a gigantic figure (the Creature) driving a dogsled across the frozen sea. This sight is strange as it is unexpected and adds to the mysterious and eerie atmosphere of the story.
Captain Robert Walton
Walton first sees a gigantic man-like figure over 8 feet tall dashing throw the snow on a dog sled. Then afterward sees a man on a dog sled almost dyeing from exhaustion chasing the first figure. Walton take aboard the second man and we find out it is Victor Frankenstein. Therefore the first figure that Walton sees is Victor Frankenstein's Monster whom Victor was chasing.
it may be argued- and it was written much later than Frankie- that Pinocchio, which retains the artificial life motive, was sort of a juvenile take-off on Frankenstein. Pinocchio , which means Wooden Eye, was published in l887.The format of Frankenstein is an epistolary novel this means it is written in the form of a correspondence of letters. This is actually one of the earliest formats of novels. Dracula was written in this form.for a list of epistolary novels see link.
Mary Shelley wrote the novel "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus," published in 1818. It is considered a classic work of Gothic fiction and is often seen as one of the early examples of science fiction in literature.
Frankenstein saw the creature as he was returning home.
