Lorraine Hansberry was the first African American woman to have a show produced on Broadway. She was born in Chicago on may 19th 1930. Her famous play "A Raisin in the Sun" was premiered in 1959. She married Robert Nemiroff in 1953 and divorced in 1964. Unfortunately, she died of cancer on January 12th, 1965 at age 34.
