YES
I could not find an exact match for this VIN in the database. Please verify that the VIN you entered is valid.
Clean vin means never salvaged or wrecked ( totaled ), and in many cases all frame, body and engine stamps match the original build sheet.
If 8th VIN digit match, then yes
Many websites offer a low price VIN check. Most DMV will check the VIN number on the car and match it with the title but that is only to verify that the title matches the vehicle. Most online sites charge from two dollars to seven dollars for a vin check.
Double check this vin number again. The 10th digit indicates the year and 0 is not found in the year identification list. I next ran the vin at motoverse.com and it came back with "I could not find an exact match for this VIN in my database."
Most motorcycles are registered by the vin on the frame. I have seen some that were registered by the engine number. The best thing you can do is to go to the Motor Vehicle dept in your area and have them run the VIN to check it the bike is stolen. If you are friends with a Cop, he can also check for you.
Get under the engine bay and uses a flashlight to find the VIN. The VIN stamp will vary from vehicle to vehicle, but will be mounted somewhere on the engine block. Some older vehicles will contain a serial number instead of a VIN. Match up the VIN from the engine block to the VIN on the vehicle. If the engine block has a serial number instead of a VIN then contact the manufacture dealer to see what serial number the original engine block had. .
As a civilian, I have no idea why you'd need to know that... but the DMV is pretty much the only place that would be able to tell if the two match up.
All cars manufactured in America (for certain) have VIN numbers on the engine, chassis and possibly other locations as well. This is for consumer protection mainly as the Chassis and Engine VIN should always match, unless the engine has been replaced with a rebuilt one.
