Neville Longbottom could only ever remember the first password used by the Gryffindor common room in his fifth year because it was the name of his plant, Mimbulus Mimbletonia.In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone he notably forgot the password "pigs snout" and was sleeping on the stairs after being locked out overnight. That is until Harry, Ron and Hermione found him on their way to a Midnight Duel.In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Neville wrote the weeks passwords down and then lost the piece of paper, which was actually stolen by Crookshanks and given to Sirius Black. Why is Neville Longbottom insecure?
Having had both his mum and dad put into St Mungo's Hospital due to the after effects of the Cruciatus Curse done by Bellatrix and Rudolphus LeStrange, he has lived with his grandmother ever since then. His grandmother being a stern witch, has always belittled Neville and compares him to his parents but never too kindly. Also having to visit his parents at St Mungo's every week must be hard for him to cope with since they don't remember him being their son. However in the Deathly Hallows, we learn that since Neville has been keeping the DA running against the Deatheaters at Hogwarts, his grandmother had finally said that he was his parents son and they would be proud of him, finally recognition from her after pretty much 17 years of sniping him.
