After five years as cohost of the KNX Morning News he was let go for budgetary reasons after his shift on December 12, 2008. At the time KNX parent company CBS had cut dozens of staff members in Los Angeles. Dave was told he had done a great job but was simply making too much money.
While working for KNX he and his partner, Vicky Moore, won four consecutive Mark Twain Awards for Best Major Market News Team by the Associated Press and numerous Golden Mikes from the Southern California Broadcasters Association.
