What happens when you open the Ilex forest shrine in Pokemon soulsilver?

The only thing you can do with it is to bring celebi there and it will bring you to the 3 years in the past to show you why your rival is so... mean. His father was.... Giovanni... They argue about your rival joining him in his evil plan, you bump into him and he runs. Then Celebi sends you 3 years later. You find yourself in a cave and you battle Giovanni, after you defeat him he says that you remind him of another boy who foiled his plans 3 years ago...
