# Queen Elizabeth the First was named simply Elizabeth by her father, King Henry VIII, of the House of Tudor. So her full name was Elizabeth Tudor. The practice of perpetuating 'Tudor' as a family name started with Henry's paternal great grandfather, the Welsh soldier and courtier Owain Tewdwr (Owen Tudor) c.1385 - 1461. Owain is thus credited with founding the House of Tudor.

# Queen Elizabeth the Second was named Elizabeth Alexandra Mary by her parents. Her father, King George VI, a decendent of Queen Victoria, was of the House of Windsor, not Tudor. Queen Elizabeth II's full name is therefore Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. She is not a descendent of Elizabeth 1st. Elizabeth 1st never married and did not have any children.

However, the two Queen Elizabeth's are related, both of them being members the British Royal Family, and of the vast and many-branched Royal Family of Europe.
