The Borg are one of the more popular villains in Star Trek. They are a race of cybernetic beings in Star Trek who share a collective consciousness. They are driven by the urge to assimilate other beings into their collective by injecting them with tiny nanoprobes that turn them into cyborgs and collect them to the hive mind. Once that happens, the person who has been assimilated will become a Borg, even if he had just been risking his life to defeat them. Because they share a collective consciousness, and their members have no sense of individuality, they think nothing of sacrificing large numbers of their membership to advance their goals. They are excellent at adapting very quickly to new situations, meaning that any weapons used against them quickly become harmless. They travel in very large ships shaped like cubes or spheres, and are able to repair damage to their ships very quickly, making them even more difficult to destroy.

What is meant by the word assimilation?

Assimilation is the process of absorbing something and making it part of oneself. For example, if you assimilate some information you will know it and be able to use it yourself. If the borg assimilate you, you will become a borg yourself and henceforth be part of the borg collective.

Who is the Borg?

The Borg are an Alien Race featured in the various Star Trek series. They assimulate whole races and turn them into drones while sharing all the race knowledge in the collective mind. You could say it's a lot like WikiAnswers, we are turned into drones, while all our knowledge is stripped from us and place into a collective mind. I wonder if this is a sneaky Borg attack on the Earth. Borg are a fictional species in star trek that assimilate beings into their collective, first injecting nanoprobes to assimilate the being from within. After a while, the nanoprobes install Borg implants and erase all traces of individuality and turn the victim into a cyborg drone. All drones are connected to a hive mind that controls them. The borg can also be fitted with interchangable eyepieces, mechanical arms, and different body parts and appendages. Borg are also able to assimilate and modify ships, as shown in Star Trek: First Contact. See "Borg" at Memory Alpha for more info.

Which episode of Star Trek TNG has former Borg trying to create a non Borg collective?

The episodes in which Lore leads a group of Borg which he finds acting dysfunctionally as a result of their leader, Hugh, being returned to the collective by the Enterprise crew with a sense of individuality a year earlier, were Descent: Part 1, the last episode of Season 6, and Descent: Part 2, the first episode of Season 7.

Why did Jeri Ryan lower her voice as 7 of 9?

Whom is the Mind of the collective borg Who What or where is it?

Good question, by the way. There is no who, what or where in the answer. The collective is all of them but none of them. Its a democracy like an ant hill with no queen. It can better be described as a computer program environment and the people are the software and hardware with the only job of gathering other species and inteligence to further the collective hive. It is a broad concept and rather hard to grasp. Addendum: Except in the film First Contact they created a Borg queen who was always in control which negates everything that went before about them being just a hive mind. An unfortunate plot device which in my opinion destroyed the beauty of the Borg!

Is god the borg collective from Star Trek?

no; if God is anything but what we think of him... He would be a caretaker of some sort. Not one who is trying to enslave humanity.

Who plays the borg queen in the TV series Star Trek Voyager?

The Borg Queen is one of the most recognized villians in the star trek universe! The name was given to the Borg who existed within and served as a central nexus for the Borg Collective. It is my belief that only Species 125 may serve as the Borg Queen as I have never seen her represented by another species.AnswerIf the question is asking about the actress who played the Borg queen, she was played by Alice Krige.

Who would win in a war between The Borg vs Brainiac from Superman?

It's difficult to determine a clear winner between The Borg and Brainiac as they both possess advanced technology and capabilities. However, Brainiac's high intelligence and ability to manipulate technology and data might give him an advantage in finding a way to defeat The Borg's collective consciousness. Ultimately, it would depend on the specific circumstances and strategies employed by each side.
