These people has displayed individuality, and stuck with their ideas, whilst the "Dark Thing" is opposed to individuality, saying that it leads to hurt and pain, so he makes everything the same, which is equally as bad. Camazotz has given up to the "Dark Thing" which employed IT, the brain, to take over the planet, and make everything the same, and make the universe a place with no individuality.
