The Dawn Treader
Caspian's ship is named the Dawn Treader. In C.S. Lewis's novel "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader," it serves as the vessel for Prince Caspian and his companions as they embark on a quest to explore the Eastern seas and seek the lost lords of Narnia. The ship symbolizes adventure and discovery throughout their journey.
The main characters who appear throughout The Voyage of the Dawn Treader are:Georgie Henley (Lucy)Skandar Keynes (Edmund)Ben Barnes (Caspian)Will Poulter (Eustace Scrubb)Australian actor Gary Sweet (Drinian)Bill Nighy supplies the voice of Reepicheep
It is partially set on the ship 'The Dawn Treader', but most of the events take place on the many islands visited by the passengers of the Dawn Treader as Prince Caspian searches for the seven missing Lords. The sea-faring part of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is being filmed in Queensland, Australia in Moreton Bay, which is the bay upon which the city of Brisbane is located. The Dawn Treader itself is, in August 2009, being constructed at Cleveland Point. The local newspaper for the area reported that this location was chosen because of the perfect, unbroken views of the Moreton Bay islands, which number in their hundreds.
In Narnian time, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader takes place after the events of Prince Caspian (although it was actually written before it). In Narnian time, this is in 2306-7, and in the children's "real world" time, it is 1942. By now, Peter and Susan are too old to return to Narnia, having learnt everything they can from that world, so Lucy and Edmund's pugnacious cousin Eustace Clarence Scrubb accompanies them.
Edmund and Lucy with their cousin Eustace are magically transported to Narnia and soon find themselves aboard the majestic ship "The Dawn Treader". They set sail on an exciting adventure with King Caspian and his men to the world's end in search of the seven lords whom the evil king Miraz had once sent them to explore the seas...
Narnia 3, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has already been filmed and is in post-production mode. It is scheduled for release in early December of 1010. For more info, and some next pictures of the ship they used in the filming, go to www.narniafans.com
They were suppose to start filming in January 2009, but Disney decided to pull from the project. Walden Media is trying to get Fox to help produce the new movie. It will supposedly come out in May 2010. Update: The Dawn Treader itself (the ship) was constructed in August 2009 at Cleveland Point on the southeast coast of Queensland, Australia. Scenes were filmed there, because of the vast number of islands, and also at Movie World on the Gold Coast.
