Tungus refers to a group of indigenous peoples in Siberia, primarily in the Russian Far East, who speak Tungusic languages. The term is also associated with the Tunguska event, a mysterious explosion that occurred in 1908 in a remote area of Siberia, believed to be caused by the airburst of a meteoroid or comet. This event flattened an estimated 2,000 square kilometers of forest and remains a subject of scientific investigation and intrigue.
