∙ 16y agoUsually you call it Science Fiction. Within Science Fiction there are two categories for those types of stories as well... Utopia or Dystopia. It is a Utopian story if it portrays an ideal (or better) future than what we have now. A Dystopian story portrays a tragic future, or one worse than we have now. Some Dystopian stories are called "Post-Apocalyptic" stories as well, because they are written in the future after a huge tragedy has happened (like World War III, or a nuclear war, or an overpowering virus that wipes out most of the people).
