well mouthpieces are a big deal in playing brass of course. mouthpiece sizes vary depending on what you play. they have certain mouthpieces for everything. this deals with all brass instruments so it's not just the trombone. also they have mouthpieces for different levels in experience and low/higher notes. so i could not tell you what to get. keep searching!

Mouthpieces are better matched to the player, not the horn. For example, a beginning or young player--typically a student--would use a size 12C mouthpiece. This is the size that comes with most student horns. The mouthpiece has a shallow cup and offers a bit of resistance. This is fine for young students who have yet to develop their lungs and technique.More experienced players choose mouthpieces with deeper cups and different rims that allow more air to pass through. They have developed the control necessary to play loud or soft and the larger mouthpiece gives them that control. A typical size for a symphony trombonist is a 6½A (or 6½AL).A bass trombonist might choose a 1½G which provides a large, deep cup and a larger bore for more air to pass through.
Girls play with a 28.5 and boys play with a 29.5
the shallower the moth peice, generally the higher the person can play. but the shallower the mouth peice usualy means worse tone quality with the lower range. begginers usually use a 7C Bach (there's two different size scales, the Bach and the Yamaha) i use a 3C, it gives me good lower middle and upper tone quality, but i dont usually play high. The lead trumpet player in my jazz band uses a 14A4, but he does all the high pitch squealing
