Mary Tudor became Queen after Edward VI died. During her reign she brought Roman Catholicism back to England. She killed almost 300 Religious dissenters in this process by burning them at the stake. Because of this tragedy she was well remembered as "Bloody Mary".

The reign of Edward VI of England?

Edward VI of England reigned for only 6 years and 159 days- put plainly, it lasted from 1547, when his father Henry VIII died, to 1553, when he changed his father's will and named his couisn Jane Grey his heir instead of his sister Mary, becasue Mary was a Catholic and both Edward and Jane were fierce Protestants. Edward was crowned when he was nine years old, and died aged 15 in 1553 of tubercolosis.

Henry VIII's son edward?

Yes Edward became king and when he died he handed the throne to Lady Jane Gray (who was more than unhappy for this to happen and refused the title of "Queen"), then after nine days of her reign Mary, Edward sister, became Queen. After Mary's very unpopular reign, Elzabeth, debatably one of England's most successful rulers, became Queen.

There's a lot of debate whether or not she was actually Queen. When Edward the VI died, he named Jane as his successor. She was immediatelly imprisoned. Her reign was only about nine days, beginning on July 10, 1553 and ending on July 19, 1553. She was deposed after accusations of treason.

Was Queen Elizabeth mother the first queen of England?

Matilda of Flanders was the wife of William the Conqueror and, as such, the first queen consort of the Kingdom of England. Matilda was crowned queen in 1068.Queen Mary I, daughter of Henry VIII, was England's first queen regnant - a female monarch who reigns in her own right (in contrast to a queen consort, who is the wife of a reigning king). She was also known as Mary Tudor and Bloody Mary (on account of the religious persecutions which prevailed during her reign). After her brother Edward VI died on 6 July 1553 there was a failed plot to place Lady Jane Grey on the throne and Mary was declared queen of England in July 1553.
