Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603, a long, long time before Queen Elizabeth II was born. You might be referring to the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, wife of George VI. She was never styled as Queen Elizabeth I or II though, because she was not a sovereign. She was a Queen Consort, the wife of a King, but had none of his powers, nor was she in line to the throne. When George VI died, the throne passed to the next in line, Elizabeth II.
Prince William has not been chosen to be king. When Queen Elizabeth II dies the next in line to the throne is her eldest son, Prince Charles. Should Prince Charles die when he is king the next in line for the throne would be his eldest son, Prince William. The rules which govern succession to the throne have been around for a long time, they are not personal choices and the Duchess of Cornwall was well aware of them before she even married Prince Charles.
Edward the Seventh, who reigned from 1901 to 1910, as he was her eldest son and so first in line to the throne only because men went first, thankfully it has changed.
Her grandfather was George III, and her father was his 4th son. Her uncle George IV had no children, so when he died, his brother William IV became king. William IV had no children either, so George and William's niece Victoria was declared heir, and became queen on William's death on June 20, 1837.Reportedly, William IV did not like Victoria's mother, and did everything he could to stay alive past Victoria's 18th birthday, so that Victoria would not need a regent to rule on her behalf. She became Queen because she was the niece of King William IV. William IV did not have any legitimate children who could take over the throne after he was gone so when he died in 1837 Victoria became Queen at 18

William of Normandy (William the Conqueror) won the Battle of Hastings in 1066 over King Harold II, assuming the throne of England as William I.
After king david died, his son Solomon took over the throne.
it all started because the king died with no person to take over the throne so William and Harold fought in the battle of hastings. William won the battle and soon had been named William the conqueror. He brought french influence to England, and brought feudalism there.
Legend has it that Harold supported William's claim to the throne as legitamte. However, when King Edward the Confessor died in January 1066, Harold rushed to London and had himself crowned King. As a result, William invaded England and defeated Harold at Hastings. The legend is that Harold promised to support Williams claim to the throne over his own, but when both the Witenagemot and King Edward himself (who was also supposed to have promised the throne to William) selected Harold to succeed Edward, he accepted it. This was a betrayal in William's eyes, and it committed the two kingdoms to War.

William I of England (who originally came from Normandy) was also known as William the Conqueror, seizing control of England in 1066. He did have a son that succeeded him, his third son, who became William II.
