The Bible does not tell us how old Simeon was or when he died. The verses in Luke 2 relating to Simeon are followed by another very similar incident where a woman named Anna spoke, giving thanks to the Lord for the new-born Saviour. She was a widow for 84 years and of "a great age" we are told. So some see this as evidence that Simeon also was elderly.
He most likely was elderly, as verse 26 states that the Holy Spirit had revealed to him he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ, the new-born Child, but as for his age of death we are not told.
Simeon and Anna waited to meet the Messiah at the temple in Jerusalem. When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to present Him to the Lord, Simeon and Anna were both there and recognized Him as the fulfillment of God's promise.
The person was Simeon.
In the Bible, Simeon was the man in the temple who recognized Jesus as the Messiah when he was presented by Mary and Joseph at the temple in Jerusalem. Simeon had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the Messiah, and he blessed Jesus and proclaimed him as the Savior.
