Jan Karski, a member of the Polish resistance and a courier, had two lengthy face-to-face meetings with FDR at the time of the Holocaust. Karski described the conditions in the Warsaw Ghetto and told him about the extermination camps. He implored Roosevelt to do something about it, but according to Karski, Roosevelt merely kept on saying, 'Tell them that the guilty will be punished'.
