According to www.Serebii.net theres like a 1 and 8,000 chance of getting a shiny with any Pokemon so with that, you can try 8,000 times but not a definite your going to get a shiny, I found a shiny pidgey but sadly in Soul Silver it takes forever to learn how to throw pokeballs! :P But in Soul Silver you will get a chance to take on and battle or catch a shiny red garagous (Spelling of the evovled form of Magikarp) it waa easy to catch. Also for Diamond you can try using the pokeradar if your chain is high then it'll be easier for you to catch it.

∙ 11y agoI'm not thinking of an actual specific spot to catch a shiny Magikarp, I'm pretty sure you have like a 1/1000 chance of any Magikarp being shiny, the only Pokemon i can think of, that you actually never can see as a non-Shiny version, is the Red Gyrados you see in Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, or Soul Silver. That is located in the Lake of Rage, north of the town with the seventh gym in it...... Mahogany i think.

There is a 1/8000 chance of finding shiny magikarp so just go to a place where only magikarp appears and get lucky!

shiny pokemons are very rare but it is weaker than the original
